Default What's the Future of the Hobby Worth to You?

When it comes right down to it, my love and passion for this hobby make the $30.00 investment in the MFCA a no-brainer.

We have been splitting hairs talking about value, $30.00 for the right to view the forum or the the fact that The Tweak is not a hard cover and only comes out quarterly or this or that and this and that, etc...and I am not picking on anyone's post in particular, just off the top of my head as I think and try to remember some of the things we have been talking about.

We have grown and will continue to grow, if you love this hobby and are happy with the current state it's in, then I can say you have not seen anything yet. It's just a matter of time before this thing hits television, it's just a matter of time before more figures are available, before more boards are available , before things we have not even thought of yet are available, before more and more people join us in fellowshipping and learning.

The hobby means more to me than the measley $30.00 a year. I would pay a hell of a lot more than that to keep this thing going.

Setting The Tweak and the use of this forum aside, you know what my $30.00 membership fee got me last year?

My friendships with:

Eric Robinson
Dave Campbell
Ajahaana Patterson
Rick Garrison
Vince Peatros
Reg Rutledge
Mike Robertson
Mike Turner
Marcelo Troilo
Jeff Eby
Cleon Tate
Ray Amaro
George Radnovich

and many more!

Plus the Coaches I have talked to via phone from across the country.

The opportunity to forget about life's daily pressures for a bit, sit down to a scrimmage with these guys and crack some plastic on the old vibroturf...man you can't put a value on that!

So before you whine about MFCA dues, think a minute and I bet that you can find way more value for the $30.00 than you think.

Stop squabbling, man up and join the MFCA, there is value to be had and the future of our hobby depends on it.

Default I feel you!!

30.00 isnt much in some but a lot to others. The problem hear is that the 30.00 will not cover the cost of the web site because they just isnt enough coaches in electric football that will spend the 30.00.You love it I love it but people arent going to just drop it down because you are calling them out!!Just aint going to happen!!fThe future of the hobby you are the future the kids who got this game is 1969 for christmas the ones that got in 1975 and in 1980 its us who love it to death the ones who made it work!!But we are a small group.Watch we can`t get 300 coaches to pay for a membership!!There is about 2,000 to 10,000 active coaches but about 400 to 1,000 real nuts about the game guys yet maybe 30 to 50 at the convention this winter!!I went to a Hotwheel convention that had 780 paid attenders who paid 270.Dont get upset make a crazy post I just being real my friend!! I hear you Jimmie, I do. I respect your opinion, however, you and I will never agree on this issue.

You have constantly been talking about the inability to get "enough coaches", well with guys like you chipping in and joining we are one coach closer. Don't focus on 200 members, 300, members, 400 members, just join and help us get others to join, we will get to where we need to be eventually.

My love and passion for this game will not be deterred by those who fail to support it's growth and future.

Has the MFCA given you $30.00 worth of friends, fellowship and good times? Forget the material things, the forum the magazine, etc...

This is what it's about.

Default As for me...

I have gotten way more than my $30.00 worth.

I know everyone - including me - is having to tighten belts and adjust budgets.

But I suggest that like with many other organizations we chose to join - it is not just what we get - but what we contribute. It's about being a part of it - involved.

Not everyone can travel to the convention or the "big" tourneys. I wanted to this year, but family obligations.

So I wrote a couple articles as my "contribution" and to share some information about the league I play in. And many of us here do other things to assist or help promote the hobby that are never mentioned.

$30.00 = ( 58 cents a week) to stay in touch and help this great game continue to flourish - seems likea good deal to me.

Besides my family , I have only 2 other things that I do during my free time. I race cars and play miniature football.
My total investment in my current Rams team is as follows.
Big board $300 and that was a great deal
Bases $ 300 - $500 , I have alot of old rare bases on my team
Figures $ 500 .
This does not count the dry brushing and decaling up each and every figure .
This accounts for only what is on my team and not does not count everything else I have . I am trying to sell everything that I do not need . Let someone else enjoy the things I do not use anymore .
I do not have alot of money to throw around on things , but ....... for one thing that I love to do , I would be willing to pay alot more than $30 a year !

Default Mfca

It's a simple thing really, if we want this to continue then it means more cash flow, so how do we do that? Lets hear suggestions from everyone and then pick what are the most viable ones and go with it.Of course more members would be ideal but it's not something we can count on each year so other ways to increase revenue are needed.I would like to see a giant raffle once a year where members donate something related to the hobby or maybe just football in general and we sell tickets. There are a ton of options as to what we could raffle. I know I have some stuff I would put in starting with a new 620 field cover.I'll bet almost all of us has some EF stuff we arn't using any more and it doesn't have to be brand new.
This is just one idea, I bet we can come up with a lot more that are as good or better than mine.So come on guys take some time and see what you can come up with, keeeping the MFCA alive and well is worth the effort.

I would say start with local tournaments , maybe something like the top 2 or 3 move on to a bigger tournament . The local tournaments can even be a local league . Then that can be carried to a regional tournament .
All competitors are charged $ 50 + to enter for the regional and a smaller entry fee for the local tournaments . All proceeds go to the MFCA .
Now you have to have a 1 of a kind trophy for the tournaments , hint, hint 513.

Then there can be a ranking system where a true champion can be crowned. You can even have the championship game at the MFCA convention.
There can even be a regional tournament held during the Miggle convention . On the side of course.

The one big problem with this is there would need to be a set of rules that all tournaments would be played under . So here we go again with that .
