Default Room for improvement

Heres my 2 cent since this is a small community charging people to post or just to members would kill your already small crowd seeing that 140 members 260 come and post.Electric football is a small community of faithful followers I thinlk this forum is great for those hobbist to sure thier hobby, and for those that are just coming back to see.I would like to see more articles or real disscusions about the hobby all areas of it playing painting figure making solitare, styles of play. When I saw the interest in the forum for solitare I got excitied many coaches who this is the only way they play are left out of the mix here!! Most of the talk is about leagues!!When I sell teams on ebay I find that their are many coaches that dont come in here that love mf they just dont feel welcome. We are a small community but we are a faithful group we just should be open to all who love this game!!Charing people to post you would quickly see this site become like the miggle site empty!!

I think the first thing we should look at is why the MFCA board was started. Giving everyone freedom to talk about whatever league they want, ways to play, manufacturers in the hobby, posting any pictures(reasonable), and keeping everyone together. To ensure EF goes on and to show others it is still alive and well. A place where there are no manufacturer restrictions too.

The only reason I see to have a members only section would be to keep the trash talking between members in that section. When, new players(young or old), or returning to the hobby players visit the site and start reading those posts, they may interpret the posts in a different manner than it is meant to be, and decide, "this isn't for me" or "I'll keep playing on my own". To me this would be the only reason to have that forum.

I do believe however that with The Tweak as good as it is. (Thank you Matt, Wolf and Al!!) that only MFCA paid members should be allowed to write articles and advertise in it.

Of course, all this is just my view.

Mike

Default I really, really like Don's idea

You can browse thru the post, but you have to be a paid member of the MFCA to post! That's a lot better than having the member only forum.

That password forum back when the MFCA was starting was for the 12 coaches selected for the start up committee. Once the MFCA got rollin' there was no need for it anymore.

It's really mind blowing to me that not everyone has joined yet? This board is used by just about all our coaches, but not all of them are members. This whole thing was started to help the hobby, but it's not getting enough support from the hobby to make major strides.

If it was up to me, I would make that change to member only posting right now.

Default My two cents

I always have to be involved in the mix, sorry.

I say we allow newly registered members 30 days full access, after that maybe only allow viewing/no posting in the "general topics" thread and close the rest of the site.
When they pay their dues and enroll in MFCA membership they gain full access again.

Can we also think of allowing the membership fees to be paid in two installments instead of one lump sum? Would this help?

I am also fully backing the idea that The Tweak only allows articles from and does features on only fully paid members.

As an MFCA Representative, it shocks me to see the membership roster, who are MFCA members and who are not.

Default Not sure...

...I agree about the Tweak. If someone has the duckets to advertise then let 'em. Articles are another story. If we don't get enough input from MFCA members then we may have to open it up to others.....maybe!

Agreed on the advertising tip! Not all advertisers care about they rag they buy space in, they are paying for space and trying to target a specific group.

Let's let them do it!

YES, Sorry, after much thought on the advertising. Maybe a discount price for advertising if you are a paid member. How does that sound?

Yes advertising is accepted from all respectable sources who are willing to pay for the space.

Default Maybe a good idea but...

serious thought should be given to the purpose of this forum in the first place. If the purpose initially was to draw more people into the sport/hobby, then why put up barriers of any kind to this forum? Having said that, I personally do feel an obligation at this point to go ahead and join, because of the great opportunities this forum has afforded me in my endeavors. I have decided that I will join for that reason, and also to get the Tweak. Also, some people may have a reason, or specific agenda they are trying to protect, trying to eliminate others from being able to post in this forum.

I am glad you decided to become a member. The MFCA is an organization worth joining.

I don't think anyone is trying to exclude posting on this forum, however, you can't shop at Sam's without a Sam's card. Although times are tough dues are still affordable and NEEDED to keep our organization moving forward. Perhaps all MFCA members should be able to vote on this matter.
