Smile Thanks for a great weekend guys!

First off...thanks to all the guys that made the trip.

We had a great time playing all day and into late hours of the morning. Frank, Joe, Jeff and Ron actually played until 3am on Friday night and Joe and Frank were up until 5am on Saturday night. It was great to just get together, play and welcome in a new bunch of coaches. Scott and Calvin Turner...welcome! These two guys had me, Matt Wavra, Frank, Joe and Ron as their personal electric football coaches for 48 hours. Joe gave the tweaking lessons , Ron gave the strategy lessons , Matt W. gave the gameplay lessons and Frank...well...he showed Calvin how to pass and the key to passing is , according to Frank...

"Keep your balls up high"

We torchered Frank on his comment all weekend...it was somewhat of a theme

We had fun, had a lot of laughs and enjoyed a great weekend. Thanks to AJ for coming, it was great to finally get some games in. Thanks to Jeff Priest for coming and Mike Robinson. Mike lived only about 5 minutes away and it was great to catch up and see just how big his son has grown. This kid loves football and was my official "offensive coordinator" on both days...could not score with out his expert play calling.

WE ARE DOING THIS AGAIN! The hotel was great, the meeting room was perfect and this is a great location with so much food places within walking distance. Hopefully we will get a bigger turnout in the future, as we had a lot of coaches who just could not get away for some football.

Next time I think we will have a tourney, if anything to draw a bigger crowd to this great venue. I did not take many photos, but I did play 6 Mid-Ohio league games...electric football...it is fantastic...

Finally...this one is for Frank...here ya go buddy...
"C"
Now we know where the missing "C" is in electric (notice spelling on box in photos)

Here are just some random photos...enjoy...Peace

Default WOW !!!

Looks like y'all had a great time and correct me if I'm wrong, appears a lot of "new" coaches were there and had the opp to learn quite a bit w/tweaking and passing clinics...I wish I could have been there !!!!

Really great to hear...I immediately practiced passing keeping my balls up high, however, it was a bit uncomfortable if you know what I mean

GREAT time! Man I got more sleep last night (8 hours) than the previous two nights combined. These trips make me feel like I am back in college, and thats a good thing because its nice to get away and just live in the moment. I really am happy to see the "melding" of the guys from Indiana/Chicago with the Mid-Ohio league. I think this is going to work out very, very well. I know the weather was not so great on Saturday and for the guys that couldn't make it don't worry we will do this again...and it will be even better.

Default Heres my 2 cents for league action and traveling in to play.

I was rushed for time but I wanted to get in as many games a possible. Currently the time limits we have now allow for longer games and are perfect if you are in town and just have 20 minutes to drive back home.
When coaches would travel in to Ohio to play I used to have seeing them make this long trip and only get one game in.
Saturday we made some adjustments and I couldn’t believe that I was able to get 3 games in and they didn’t feel rushed at all.
We played 6 plays/boxes per quarter with each team allowed 3 timeouts. One play equals a full box with a timeout equal to half a box. All kickoffs that result in touchbacks or downed at the spot did not count as plays.
This turned out to be approx 30 plays per game. Timeouts were used in the 2nd and 4th quarters. The games didn’t seem short and with proper set up speed the games moved along pretty fast.
Now had I been able to make it Friday and play all day Saturday I’m positive I would have been able to play 9-10 league games in that format and still have plenty of breaks.

Now of course if you are playing an in town league member, go with the normal time limits and of course if playing playoffs and championships.

This is something to seriously consider because it helps us get the most bang for our buck. Spending 7 hours on the road I want to get a lot in and I feel those three games made it worth it. Had I traveled and just got one or two in, I might be hesitant to make so many trips…now I feel with a well thought out trip planner this format will work and encourage others to travel more.

Thoughts?

AJ

kick offs and touchbacks where there is not a run back never counts as a box.
I do like the rules for out of towners , it really helps to get some games in.
Next season , we are planning a weekend like this one along with 2-3 of these in Columbus . So we are hoping there will be plenty of chances for everyone to get their games in.
Those Steelers need to get back on the board with the Rams !
