![]() I am a newbie so forgive me if this has been brought up before. Has anyone ever thought of a league/tournament played with only 11 players? In other words, NO substitions allowed.. Everyone plays both ways. I can see some advantages:
1. Faster play, you don't have to place and pull players. 2. Cheaper, you only need 11 figures and 11 bases. 3. Fewer Player characteristics to memorize. Disadvantage: 1. What do you do if both teams are the same color? 2. Can't have specialized players for situations, i.e. loopers etc. I am sure that there are more advantages/disadvantages out there. I am throwing this out for discussion which seems to be very popular on this board, grin. The reason I thought of this was because in high school, my football team played 8 man football. We had a center, 2 guards, 2 ends, and 3 backs. Backs and ends were eligible. It so happened that all 8 starters played the whole game both ways unless someone got hurt or it was a runaway game one way or the other. The 3 subs were freshmen, and none of them weighed more than 105 pounds. We went 7 - 1. Doug |
