Geno… I agree that with you that this issue is nothing but a dead horse, and I have a suggestion in the last paragraph of my post.
Like John Oubre I have teams at various weight classes. 3.2, 3.3, 3.5, 4.0, and I’m currently trying to put together an MPFL weighted team. So my comments are solely about this topic.

George when I read your quote… I thought the same exact thing. However I went back (about a year) and checked just to see if our thoughts had legs. It turns out that this topic resurfaces in one shape or form about every 6 months. The only anomaly was a November thread… which if added into the equation… makes this subject come up about every 4 months instead of 6.
The next few quotes and responses will illustrate what I’m talking about.

Although you guys love your 4.0 system you seem to knock the lower weight like it’s the stone ages or something. 4.0 may work better for you (or your favorite figures or products) but that doesn't mean what works for other coaches or is antiquated and out of style, savvy.
Not knocking 3.6 or 4.0 but 3.2 works well for us. I for one am satisfied with the 3.2 standard.

Steve Martin wrote this in January of 2008. I remembered Steve’s comments because I totally agreed with them. Promoting what you do is fine; clubbing the rest of us like baby seals isn’t.

Its an adjustment......

Steve Martin wrote this in July of 2008. Almost each and every one of us started with standard weight figures. When Steve made the decision to play 4.0, he carefully assessed what he needed to do to make his team compliant with the rule set. His own quote verifies this. It isn’t brain surgery people… to quote Steve: “Its an adjustment”. Truer words were never written. Steve Martin shows us ALL what Miniature Football coaching is about. It’s about talent evaluation; team building techniques, and adjustments. People who imply that it’s some kind of back-breaking labor to muster up teams in 2 different weight classes isn’t a knock against 3.3 or 4.0; it’s a knock against your coaching passion, prowess, and ability. For those of US that actually can coach… it’s nothing more than a minor adjustment.

But don't attack coaches and their style of play stating that they are close-minded, backwards or that your system is "better" or more like real football.
That is an opinion clearly subject to debate.

Steve wrote this in November of 2008. The pattern people should see is… Steve actually responded each time this topic came about. I took the time to read each thread and could sense Steve’s frustration during those times. He never had a problem with the 4.0 weight limit just like a lot of us who don’t. His issue was with coaches who constantly trying to brow-beat the rest of us into submission; all the while making it seem like their particular weight limit is “better” or somehow being victimized.
================================================== ========
The moral of the story…
We all have the ability to choose how we’d like to play. Having choices is not a curse it’s a blessing. If you’re happy with your play style and or weight limit, then BE HAPPY!!! Constantly pretending to be the victim while brow-beating the rest of us tells me one thing…
You’re not really happy with your current situation. If you were, we wouldn’t be rereading this topic every 4 to 6 months. Most of us have stopped responding to this topic because it basically covers the same ground every time. That’s why I found Geno’s beating a dead horse response so amusing. I just hope that when the next one appears in about 4 months or so, he places it at the very beginning of the thread as a gentle reminder of past mistakes.
Peace,
Don Smith
PS. I like Lomax’s maximum-weight class distinction
Class A- 3.3
Class B- 4.0
Class C- unlimited
