Default Just my opinion...

House rules definetely supercede football rules but for the sake of arguement lets say that there was no house rule on this and the judement call was made on the fly, is this fair?

NFL rules state that in overtime or regulation if an offensive team obtains a penalty on a play that wins the game for the offensive team the penalty is then enforced and the play is redone.

If an offensive penalty occurs in overtime or regulation under 2 minutes and the offensive team has no timeouts there is a 10 second runoff. Therefore, if there were 8 seconds in the game the game would have been over.

With that said...If there were to many players on the field on the offensive side of the ball that is "to many men in the huddle". That is a pre snap penalty and a 10 second runoff if there are no timeouts. However, I don't know how you can call the game over if it is already an untimed down.

Furthermore, because the play was allowed to go on and not enforced presnap and the result of the play was that the offensive team won the football the initial statement of this post should have been enforced with the penalty being enforced and the play being redone.

However, it is house rules and you live & die by them. However, I do think it is important that as many rules are clarified as possible. So keep the questions coming guys. It helps everyone!
