First off let me welcome you to this forum.
And to answer you're question,....
This hobby has changed, with advancements in figures, bases, boards, passing, and playing styles.
No need to be overwhelmed, just first look within you're self as to what you want to get out of this hobby. Then look into all of you're options and learn about how each culture works.
Avoid pressure from guys who might want you to play there way, it is wise to find the facts on you're own. Avoid justifying any thing, but use the facts, ask questions, and learn all you can .
