for figure placement on bases, any idea on the best type?

Go to the fabric department at Wal-mart, K-mart or wherever and get fabric tape. It is used in sewing material and it is very thin and inexpensive. Works great for me.

You guys ever try Tom johnson's tape, $10 bucks a roll and it last years.

P.S. Buy some from this cat, trust me, just make sure you got the right figure for the base your using (smile).

The stuff that Norbert is talking about is what I have. I couldn't remember Tom's last name but stick a post out there and put attn: Tom Johnson and he'll respond! he's a great guy and as you know that tape is excellent! Thanks Norb

I have used double-sided carpet tape. Works very well.
