2011 MF EVENTS

COACHES,

The tourney season will be over in a few weeks. What are your plans for 2011. What mf event do you have on tap for 2011. I know it is early but i thought i would just ask. We need a magical city to hit. Where that is, i dont know. someplace right in the middle of america that has enough to do . ANY IDEAS.

iF YOU NAME A CITY, WHAT ARE 3 THINGS THAT MAY INTEREST THE AVERAGE TRAVELER OUTSIDE OF ELECTRIC FOOTBALL.

OFF THE TRACKS A BIT, it may be time to explore the carolinas. I think we can get a good turn out.

what about the disneyland area in flo.

WHAT AREA WOULD PRODUCE THE BETTER TURNOUT /

1)NORTH

2)SOUTH)

3)EAST)

4)WEST.

****ON AVERAGE, WHAT REGION HAS THE MOST ELECTRIC FOOTBALL COACHES. Remember, there are many who are not MFCA members and who do not post ever. BUT THEY PLAY SOMEWHERE.

MFCA Tournament of Champions

Dre: I’m going to hijack your thread for the purpose of promoting the hobby. What I’d like to see at a minimum is a MFCA tournament held in each MFCA region using local rules, or MFCA developed rules, I don’t care. Each tournament would be for MFCA members in good standing only, expired memberships won’t work for tournament entry. The winners from each MFCA region would then face off in a Tournament of Champions using MFCA rules at the MFCA convention in August. 7 regions 7 champions, the eighth spot could go to the previous year’s champion, or runner-up. The beauty of this system is any member can play in any region, so if you failed to win your local MFCA tourney you could travel to another region and play in theirs using their local MFCA approved rule-set. The tournaments are limited to MFCA members and this system of tournaments promotes travel to distant regions or neighboring regions depending on location. Standard tournament fees will need to be established or factored into membership fees. Your thoughts and opinions are welcomed, thanks. Ray F/Manhattan Ray

I agree.

Great Start. Now we need some chiming in from the membership with respect to locations.

Thanks Ray!

Ray, That would absolutely be exciting! I would be 100% behind that but it would take people coming together like they never did before. It could happen! Honestly the whole idea of 7 regions and skills contests was put in place so that it could eventually lead to exactly what you described.

Regional Tourney System

Again I sent virtually the same proposal to the BOD last year. See attached.

One major point

to make it solid is that the guys taking part in the regional tourney would definitely have to be committed to traveling to the MFCA Con should they be the regional winner. I know that sounds simplistic - but not all guys make that trip - I didn't this past year :( .

I guess it would go to the runner up and so forth

Wow Ray...........I knew you were smart! ppls$ lffng$ :rtfl:

Another perk to the membership! But location would be everything.

The actual winner would get a plaque or trophy, but he couldn't make it to the conv the member he beat would take his place. If he couldn't attend, then the next highest ranked coach that is there would go.

Sounds like a plan....

As Chris "eflfanatic" showed with his pdf, he introduced a similar idea last year. The idea comes up every so often in one form or another. Usually it revolves around for a bit, but ultimately dies out because of rules differences. I believe that we will get to the point of having a national championship, but I also believe that it will never be more than 50% of the active players out there.

The CBSMF has essentially started this already with the 4.0 Texas Shootout style. I think this is great and should be supported and continued, but there is also a wide contingent of coaches out there who prefer other styles that are distinctly different than the Shooutout Rules yet similar to one another.

Just as table hockey has two different or maybe more styles of tourneys and championships based on the equipment they are using, (Stiga Tourney, Coleco Tourney, other) miniature football could do the same. The debate needs to shift from 1 style for all to maybe 2 styles or at the most 3 styles for all. To me, I can pick up any set of rules outside of the Shootout style and with some minor adjustments be ready to play with a good enough understanding to be competitive. The big question is if the non shootout styles of rules can get together under 1 banner as the CBSMF did under the Shootout style? They are all so similar that it seems that with a little give and take we could do this and create these events.

Now don't go telling me we are splitting the hobby....that is not it at all. It is simply identifying the major breaks in the game/rules from one another and allowing each of those entities to flourish. We can all be part of the MFCA banner because they are all a style of electric football, but why not accept the fact that we have two distinct styles and let them both run.

So when do we make this happen? We need to start with finding which coaches/leagues across the country want to play and are willing to adjust because time constraints, family, WIVES, etc only allow for so many leagues/tourneys that we can feasibly take part in. We don't want to change or take away from the leagues that exist as they are running now, but rather see if they have enough interest to play one tourney out of the year by a national standard.

There is my 2 overly stated cents.

mantaraydre 09-30-2010 09:32 AM

2 styles

coaches,

many coaches like to stay with a paticular style that is not shootout related. They have been familiar with that style of play for years. Just as the shootout coaches like to stay with there style of play. if we could develop an additional style for the mfca that would be regional/national. Why not create a huge college league with each region having its own name under the mfca banner. Plenty of coaches would love to play a college tourney but by the way they are used to playing. That is the similar style around the country many leagues employ. texas region play the shootout style. dc region play the mfca style. etc etc. That is the only way to increase numbers and interest. I think it would be good for the hobby.

texas and la region call themselves the CBSMF.
Great lakes region, probably 2 styles with names pending.
new york region -cbsmf east or ny
south region- dixie athletics or whatever

all grab a college team and they all will be placed on the same website under 1 banner.

It can all work if folks just sat down and looked at the hobby as a bigger picture. A billboard and not a snap shot.

ITS QUITE EVIDENT WE WILL NEVER AGREE TOTALLY ON RULES REGIONALLY.
So let the mfca create a rule to satisfy that 50% of coaches who are receptive to something new but familiar. Also, create pockets where your free to use your rules under 1 banner. GIVE THE PEOPLE OPTIONS.

1 BIG COLLEGE LEAGUE WOULD BE CRAZY. OR PRO IF YOU WANT.

HOW ABOUT

1)PRO

2)COLLEGE

3)PERSONAL TEAMS.

STATS GO ON 1 WEBSITE UNDER 1 BANNER.

***we need to fix this because we should not have to pick and choose tourneys. It all can be done in 1 setting with everyone happy. I made a decision to only travel once next year outside of going to play in the pro set and mpfl. I would like to see everyone together. I cant control other peoples thoughts on this matter so i must travel for myself. Hope to see every face, IN ONE PLACE, in one state, ON 1 DATE. THAT WOULD BE GREAT !!!MANTARAYDRE
