Big board motor question
 
Ok guys I need some help. I am running my players at 4.0 with the motor placement in the corner endzone. I just ran a pass play and my player completely bounched on the board.
The motor is from Pit C, and is great, but I just can't find the right placement or solution.
Should I move it out to the 20? Need some advice

support underneath
 
Do you have any support underneath your board ? I have support at both 20's and 40's yard line. I also support my motors. I will put picture soon. It does make it run quieter and the vibration is smooter. The idea is from Michigan Joe I believe.

do you mean the figure "jumps" on the field ?

I had that problem on my own big board, with the first attempt of motor building. THe solution I found was to use a smaller counterweight, but with a fast motor. SO the vibration stills good but not create too big "bounces" on the field. The motor assembly (only one motor on my board now) is installed in one endzone corner too.


I tried to move the motor assembly, to change the powersupply, the motors type, etc....and finally found the best result using only one motor with one very small brass counterweight. THe board noise is a lot less louder too now. I'll make a pic of it (the last one I made on the board building topic is not good anymore).



Now I can play even 3.0grams "standard" athletes (fab5 + standard miggle or diamond base) thmbsp$

I have to try that too, by curiosity. SInce I 've got a lot of cleats I didn't use from my board building, it should be easy to test. thmbsp$

Challenge
 
The challenge is to find the top speed with a staedy vibration. Supporting the motor is a clever idea. I have tried different type of motors. 3 volt and 12 volt. My board is very big 72 x 36 and if it is not well supported even with a smooth 3 volt motor it will get bouncy.

I'm not a board builder or a motor guy, but I would say that Frenchy's comments ring true w/my situation also. I have a Roller board, and I found that the field plays truer with the transformer on #3 which is quite low (many higher capacities to choose from), and the speed turned up pretty high. Great speed w/o any bouncing of the players, etc...

Hey Pit Couture,

Do you have supports under the metal to keep it from sagging?

I have one about that big using 24G sheet metal...

Well, my board is 24" x 48" so its not that big.
(PC)I love the fact that I can adjust the speed, it was a nice feature that you gave me. But now I just need to find that perfect placement and pitch.
I will keep doing research and take any suggestions.
Oh, and I did find the Michigan Joe post. I think I will try that as well.
It looks like he put the motor on the 50 and toward the sidelines.

Yes, the support is to prevent sagging and adjust the vibration.

I have two three volt motors that you can try if you want. Of course, there is no charge. I want you to be satisfy.

I will give them a try. We can work out a trade of some sort if you would like.
I don't mind painting a team for you. Its up to you.
