HEY ROOKIES...and Veteran coaches too...HELP NEEDED...this is easy....

The Rookies Guide To Miniature Football
The Tweak staff and other volunteers are going to work on a 20 page booklet to be ready by the convention in August which will answer the 20 top questions by rookie coaches.

We need everyone's help (your duty to promoting the hobby and game of miniature football) in answering:
What were the first questions you had as a new miniature football coach? We are NOT looking for answers right now...just the questions you had!

Please take a minute to think about when you joined this hobby and give us at least 1-5 questions you had.

first coming into my mind

Where can I find a game ?

What are the diferent models of bases ?

What are the diferent models of figures ?

How does it (the game) works ?

How do I make my team working (tweaking) ?

allftbl 12-14-2010 05:47 PM

1. Map of/and locations and info on coaches and all leagues (especially solitaire leagues, any fantasy teams used, logos and colors of uniforms, rosters, and histories of the leagues.)

2. Where to find and how to get back issues of The TWEAK (wanted to catch up/find out whats been going on in the hobby)

3. Types,sizes,and weights of players/figures used

4. Info on different sizes/types of fields/boards

5. Types of bases and where you could get them

Hoop27 12-14-2010 05:52 PM

Funny. I'm working on a MF 101 video for that same reason. It's too bad I can't sing as well as Reg or it would have some pizazz! :rtfl:

I'll add some stuff to the list after a few more posts to see if I can fill in some blanks. thmbsp$

detroitchild 12-14-2010 05:53 PM

ok...

What are water slide decals and how do you apply them? (after wondering why they did not stick to my figures) :rtfl:

How do you tweak bases? :twkr:
Where can I get a great running board? :zmmz:

Is there an easier way to apply facemask? hlmt$

Where is a good source to match paints of my favorite teams?

Who is Weirdwolf and why is he allowed in here?

Number 1 Question by observers...

#1 Question by onlookers...

How do you pass? kick?

Others...

How long does a game take? What are the rules?

artlax 12-15-2010 09:32 AM

The questions...

my students and friends have asked me:

How do you play the game?

How do the men move?

Isn't that the game where the guys just run around in circles and such?

How do they catch the ball (ie; how do you pass)?

How do they tackle?

How do you punt and kick-off or kick FG's?

Did you paint those guys - they are cool - where can you buy them?

Where can I buy the game?

Are there penalties?

WEIRDWOLF 12-15-2010 09:48 AM

Great stuff...keep them coming...We should have 200 responses..1 response per member.

Coach K-LO 12-15-2010 10:03 AM

a few that I have been asked

- where do you get a new game??

- What is 'tweaking a base'??

- Is that the same game from before video games??

- how do you pass/punt??

- what is the difference now compared to 70's & 80's??

- How do you order custom players, decals, facemasks, etc??

- where do you play??

- how long is a game??

"What do I 'NEED' to start playing"

We will start recording our video tonight. It will include a lot of this and a very basic how to on tweaking. (basically to get them running)

Lindyhopper49 12-15-2010 10:59 AM

different techniques for the TTQD, TDQ, TDK, TDP: in terms of Ball placement, Angle off the board, Grip etc.

Coach K-LO 12-15-2010 11:12 AM

it's a learning process....everyone has a differnt view, but you have to be able to read your QB tendicies.... does the ball travel straight or goes to the left or right of the target....

jeff 12-15-2010 11:38 AM

where can I see games played in my area ?

DenverChris 12-15-2010 12:32 PM

My First Questions

1.) Where can I buy a Field and which one?

2.) Where can I buy figures?

3.) Explain passing sticks and where to get them

4.) Where to buy decals?

5.) Steps to painting and decaling.

6.) Steps to tweaking bases

Joeram57 12-15-2010 05:15 PM

These were mine all based on tweaking, figures, weight, formation, type of bases to use, etc to:

Best to open holes for running?

Best to get receivers open?

Best to stop receivers?

Best to stop run?

How to use loopers?

How to stop loopers?

Funny thing is, I still can't answer these same questions:)

How do you get these friggin decals on? :)

Lindyhopper49 12-15-2010 05:34 PM

Defence! I think the offensive side of the ball is more straight forward. so some information on how to play effective miniature football defence would be helpful

eflfanatic 12-15-2010 05:46 PM

Most frequent question

The most frequent question I get asked is "How do you make the players go where you want them to go and not run around in circles?"

The next most frequent is probably "How do you pass and how do you know you completed a pass?"

Hoop27 12-15-2010 09:17 PM

We're recording tonight. I'll try and answer some of the basics in our video. thmbsp$

ddiBiase 12-15-2010 09:45 PM

What position does each model represent ? Does it Matter?

Where can I get figures, beside Miggle ?

How do the various companies figures compare to each other?

Rules ?

How can I get better performance from my figures?

Should I customize or do most leagues discourage it. If it's OK what are the parameters.

Leagues around the country ?

Tips for building competitive teams for a league.

Standard custom board size.

Lindyhopper49 12-15-2010 10:10 PM

Yeah! I like the "how do you know your team will be competitive/ stand a chance" in a league idea.

Hoop27 12-16-2010 12:47 AM

We taped a few segments tonight that will cover the basics. More recording tomorrow. I would suspect our EF 101 will be ready by the weekend!

Though I'm ********ed because we lost the base tweaking tutorial and I actually got a reasonable straight runner on the first try with one! :rtfl:

New Coach Questions

1.) Where can I buy a Field/Gameboard and which one shall I purchase?
2.) Where can I buy figures and is there a weight standard?
3.) Which is best passing sticks or TTQ passing?
4.) Where to buy decals?
5.) Can I build my own team and field?
6.) How do I tweak bases?
7.) Is there a complete instructional DVD for new coaches?
8.) Which set of rules are the general standard in the MF community?
9.) Is there a standard weight for the football?
10.) How do I sign up to play to measure my style and success in playing?

batsy 12-19-2010 01:13 AM

1. So many different bases...what's the difference between them?

2. Which bases are the best if you are a novice base tweaker?

3. A how-to video on base tweaking

4. What are the best paints to use

the System 12-20-2010 04:52 PM

Q?

How do you build a winning team? Can this be played solo? Why is it so expensive? Does it take a lot of brains to make it work? Is there an easier way to play so my young son can play? Are you guys weird? Do you know that there are more important things to do? Only some of the questions that I have heard.$cch$ $cch$ $cch$ $cch$ $cch$

Hoop27 12-24-2010 05:55 PM

How to make your own decals and how to apply them? A video for this would be ideal.

edit: Really good tutorial on that in Tweak #6. Video would still be nice.

Hoop27 12-29-2010 01:44 AM

Bumping....

We are finishing out Electric Football 101 video tomorrow (knock on wood) Is there anything else not mentioned here that should be covered?

Not everything here of course will be covered but the basics should be pretty well done.

Hoop27 12-30-2010 04:49 PM

Yay! Recording is finished just putting it all together and cleaning it up (or Josh is :D )

The only official statement I will make is DAMM I almost completed that pass with the TTQB. Once it's all up on youtube etc. I'll have it in the Rookie Coach section.
