I bet you anything the night before he got all the coaches out partying and they were all hungover and couldn't focus. He probably slipped something in their drinks and took advantage of them (on the EF field that is)! :D Congrats Corey! |

Pendulum Shift
Yes, It's true the National One err.. FO.T.H. a.k.a. PretttBoy has achieved another remarkable feat.
After a long and ardous struggle through a long regular season in the very competitive BEFL - Corey bested a very fine Tom Johnson coached San Diego Charger team 28-21 using his Franny Boy inspired Houston Texan team. I will leave it to Corey (as he is known for his almost Barnum and Bailey like showmanship and hyperbole) to describe the game and his emotions. As Dearall noted, this is the first time that a non-MD/DC coach has snatched the supremacy crown from this hotbed of EF. My good friend Glenn Phoenix and I accompanied Corey on this journey. Corey reached the final by winning two decisive battles over William Chalmers and Glenn Phoenix to reach the final stanza. After losing his first two regular season games - he went back to the cauldron and his deep bag of tricks to roll out victories over the next nine opponents before prevailing in the big dance. All I can say is wow... What a run. Corey is one of my long time friends and EF buddies in the hobby. I can tell you there is no one more deserving of this honor and achievement. Having come oh so close in many competitive leagues across the country he now has one for himself. You see (as a close observer) he gives more to the hobby than he takes - so I can attest to how significant this title means to him. I know that the BEFL is not going to take this affront lightly as we approach the eve of another NEFL season where fully 10-11 MD/DC coaches will make their bi-weekly sojourn to Philly over the next few months. They have dominated in this travel league and across the EF landscape. So, you can expect to see some serious paint swapping and base rattling in the NEFL as Corey (and others) seek to wrestle control of the Philly mantle. I kind of wish he had not stirred up this hornets nest. Every see a fire-breathing dragon. This is what the NEFL will see and face thanks to the FOTH. Congratulations to the BEFL for putting on a class league and venue. There are many fine coaches and outstanding people who have endured many challenges over the years to not only roll out a great rule set but to present a very competitive platform for the hobby. Kudos to all of their coaches. If you are on the fence about attending the upcoming Beltsville Bash event - give it some serious consideration. Get there if you can. It is sure to be a great event with excellent competition. Moreover, you will rub elbows and share space with some great people. Enough hyping the BEFL. I will leave it to Corey to walk us through the season and post-season run. Expect a blow-by-blow account and plenty of photos to go along with his posting. Ed Scott |

BEFL
When I left at about 4PM, it was Tom Johnson and Robert Chalmers squaring off and CorEy, Mr. National, PrettyBoy, Miss. MFCA, whatever you know him by best in a tough match VS Glenn Phoenix. I think Tom was in the process of defeating Robert on a last minute FG to win just before I left. I have nothing to offer for the final match.
It was great getting down to the club house for the first time in months and seeing one of the best EF groups in the country. My thanks to Ty Ware for buying a round (several rounds) of scotch for the room, boy that was good scotch to watch EF with. Congrats to CorEy, I too look forward to hearing about this championship over and over and over……….. I hope to see most everyone in April at the BEFL Tournament and again in August. Thanks, Ray F/Manhattan Ray |

The upset special was Robert Chalmers over 3 time defending champ Lomax.
Glenn Phoenix over Keith Chalmers was a mild upset. Tom J over Ty Ware was over at the coin flip, but to Ty's credit he played well and kept it interesting thru most of the game. CorEy over William Chalmers was a battle. The Titans (in Oiler throwbacks) kicked a FG on the last play to win this game! Nat'l |
more pix from the first round

The Ravens vs Colts game went down to the last play. Keith missed a pass that would have won the game.
CorEy can laugh now, but he wasn't before he kicked that FG to win it. Nat'l |
Was that Ray F & the Peoples Champ????
9 Attachment(s)
Yup they were in the building!!!!!!!!!!! Ray set up the drinking booth, and Dre was his regular funny self. Dre the Peoples Champ luvs a good debate. This dude would argue you that a crow is white!
His claim on this day was that Brett Favre is the worst big game QB in history! Well it was on to the next round of games: Tom and his Chargers vs Robert and his Packers CorEy and his Oilers vs Glenn and his Ravens. That's how close the Packers came to sending this game into OT. He just missed hitting the kicker! :dohdh: :dohdh: :dohdh: Tom kicked himself into the Super Bowl. Now he was waiting for his opponent Nat'l |
what a show!
Finally a winner is Crowned and it goes to who....That's right F.O.T.H...aka....Mr. National...aka....PrettyBoy....bka... He ran the BEFL (Beltsville EFL) gauntlet to true perfection! It's hard to win back to back games in our league, but he not only pulled that off, but swept thru to win his 1st Title! In the early rounds Robert Chalmers upsets Defending Champ K-LO Tom Johnson defeats Ty Ware Coery Defeats William Chalmers Glenn defeats Big keith Chalmers Tom defeats Robert to make his 2nd trip to BEFL title game Corey outlast Glenn in the All Philly Conf final (also a BEFL first) to make his first trip. The Title game was well played and back and forth and going into the 4th QTR it was tied at 14. After E.Campbell scored to push them up 21-14, on the Chargers next drive, the Oilers caused a fumble and returned for TD to kick the score up 28-14. chargers were not flustered at all.... a couple of plays later they made the score 28-21 with 3 plays left. ONSIDE KICK...Chargers Ball!! 2 play left..... sack 1 play left......Chargers went to their go to guy.....LT ....... thru the hole he went, just like so many plays this season....oh no.....the field grabs his feet and down he goes...:dohdh: :dohdh: :dohdh: :dohdh: Congrats N1! k-lo |
Oilers vs Ravens

Well Titans wearing the Oiler throwbacks! This game came down to the last play as well. If Glenn hits the pass on the last play of the game, he wins!!!!
But he missed and the Oilers are in the Super Bowl!!!!!!!!!!!! :chr: ppls$ :chr: ppls$ thmbsp$ :chr: :chr: :chr: :chr: :chr: Nat'l |

There's not a bigger bunch of cut ups anywhere in the country than what you have in BEFL.
Don't fall asleep around these dudes. Coach Floyd Tate, who is a police officer in Md is caught sleeping on the job! :rtfl: lffng$ :rtfl: lffng$ :rtfl: lffng$ :rtfl: lffng$ :dohdh: Nat'l PS How could he fall asleep with the 2 Philly, out of town coaches battling it out to see who will play the Chargers? |

CorEy Johnson vs Tom Johnson (no relation)
The game was played on a Megawattz Redskins board, which ran perfect!!!!! Here we go! Nat'l |
Going into the game.
Both defenses had to focus on the RB of the other team. Earl Campbell & L.T. were both all world players during the season and playoffs.
One of the biggest plays of the game was a 70yd TD pass from Warren Moon to Curtis Duncan on the last play of the 1st half to make the score 7-7 with the Oilers getting the ball back to start the 2nd half. It was all defense in the first half. You would thnk with a rule set that allows you as many pivots in 10secs, FOB tackling & turn and burn on pass plays it would be a shout out, but the defenses were rising to the occassion! Nat'l PS We would have loved to have had Lomax taking pix, but he was showing Dre how to ride a bike again! In the next set of pix, Dearell must have hit nightshot because the color is all messed up!!!!!!! |
The BEFL Championship game (Oilers vs Chargers)

The play that sealed the game happened with the Oilers up 21-14 mid way thru the 4th qtr. On the insuing kickoff #38 of the Oilers forced a fumble, picked it up and ran 30yds for the TD!!!!!!!!! Oilers 28 Chargers 14
But Tom J battled back to score to make it 28-21 Oilers, then recovered the onside kick at the 50yd line. But the Oilers made a huge sack on the next to last play. On the Chargers last play Tom decided to give his workhorse back...dance with who brought you here running back L.T. With the defense playing a zone, prevent defense it wasn't a bad call, but LT slipped over the turf monster and the Oilers were CHAMPS!!!!!!!!!! Nat'l |
