Poll question...will he or won't he

Well the Vikings are out (sorry Guttmann), so I ask...will Brett finally retire before he gets crippled for life!?

jeff 01-25-2010 02:05 PM

i think with the beating he took yesterday, he will realize his body will not last another complete season. so I vote he will retire .

Jim Davis 01-25-2010 02:06 PM

HE'S DONE

Yes, we have seen the last of Brett Favre.

GUTTMANN 01-25-2010 02:11 PM

Thanks Matt! :(

6 fumbles, 2 int's, crappy kickoff coverage and a slew of BS penalty's........And they go to OT??? Any "GOOD" team would've crushed the Vikes yesterday.

Colts by 20!

Favre-Will be back next year. He's upset.

detroitchild 01-25-2010 02:24 PM

Hhmmmmm...

Should he....YES!

Will he.....

GO COLTS!!!

One of the signs of a "GOOD" team is one that can win the big game, even when they are not playing at their best. If Brees is on in the Super Bowl, it could be an interesting game.
I think that Favre will try one more season, but he may not make it all the way through.

GUTTMANN 01-25-2010 03:20 PM

TRUE! The Vikes can't do it, and haven't for a long time.

One More Time.....

I think Favre will be back next year. $12.5 million is
a big incentive, plus he'll have pretty much the same
team around him. They're young and hopefully improving.
There are ALOT of Favre "hatters" out there but I'd take
Favre on a bad day,at 40-41 over ALOT of the QBs' out there today.
And don't get me started on Adrian ( they call me Mr. Fumble)
Peterson.I'm not impressed.Sorry ! I'd rather see Chester
Taylor run the ball any day.

Sometimes when you have it all you can have too much. Stars are humans and it always comes down to one thing. Karma. You kick people and it comes back to haunt you. So happy to get the "Legend" that they couldn't even be honest with their players about it. So, no training camp, no conditioning, all we need is you. Something so simple, yet complex. So sad to see him crumpled and defeated like that. It reminds me of the time I was brought to tears when Larry Holmes pummelled my all time hero, Muhammed Ali, to Parkinsons. I pray, and I believe to no avail, that Brett does not follow "The Greatest of All Time" as it relates to knowing when enough is enough. Having stated that Brett deserves one more shot at a title. They have to be better next year because they know each other. For all the drama I still want to see him go out a winner. The only problem is that on the other side is probably the greatest quarterback, in my opinion, to play the game. One Peyton Williams Manning.

I agree with the dependable Chester over the explosive Adrian anyday. You only need a back to "keep em honest" when you have a Farve at QB. Unfortunately, the Vikings didn't find that out until yesterday. So what do they do. There's no Aaron Rogers on the horizon and we all know Brett is too fierce a competitor to share. So watch and learn Mr. Jackson.

Love those Sears commercials

The whole team had butterfingers. And once the game got close Brett felt like he had to be superman, and threw the game away. Making those throws that make you say HHMMMMMM.......

AP did have 3tds!!!! He's trying to hard to break everything for 80yds. He will settle down. It was amazing that the Vikes kept giving the ball away, but remained in the game.
They are the better team, but not on that day. The Saints took what was given, and now they are a game away.
I like Favre, but all that changing his mind crap gives me a bad taste. :rnt;
I hope he retires, he probably won't because he is so close with that Vikings team.

As for the bowl, don't think the Saints have enough defense to hold down Peyton and the colts offense.
I really think the Vikes would have given them a better game, but who knows.

I vote that he comes back, but he will wait right up to the 2nd preseason game! :nhnh: :rtfl: :nhnh: ppcrn ppcrn

I hope he will be back, but by the look of the beating that he took last night, I don't think that he will have anything left of him. BUT, with what has happened about the last 3 or 4 years, he has retired and come back out of retirement in the last weeks of the offseason/preseason.
I don't think that Brett will want to end his career on one of the worst throws that he has ever made.

So my pick is that he might or might not, because we will never come close to understanding Favre's mind.mgngcrz

Im with Jeff

I believe sundays game, along with the week before, where supposedly the entire right side of his body was a bruise, will be enough for him. And, if you seen his wife in the stands, covering her eyes not to watch, probably indicates that shes seen enough. I will miss him, but its time to get out before he ends up a talking head in a wheelchair. There is nothing left to prove, and anyone who is a football fan, whether you like him or not, has to give this man his credit, because he's one tough SOB.

Favre

I think Gregg Williams provides other teams with the book on how to play Favre. In his last 4 games against Williams coordinated defenses Brett Favre's QB ratings were: 70, 43, 63, 39.

You have to hit him early and often. In the first quarter you hit him before the whistle, during the whistle, and even take your chances with a few after the whistle. That rattles him and gets him a bit ancy.

The 25 year old Favre would've loved that type of game and been talking smack to the defensive linemen (remember??). The 40 year old Favre is a sitting duck.

If you do what most teams do and that is drop 7 or 8 into coverage, Favre will pick you apart (witness the 2 GB games). He's that good at reading coverages and getting rid of the ball quickly.

I predict he does come back and for the first time doesn't make it through the season.

FrustratedFinFan 01-26-2010 11:54 PM

He'll be back....but he won't let his team (current or future) know till after training camp. He feels he doesn't need the conditioning and work.....but towards the end of each season I think that is what holds him back.

ChrisStacey 01-27-2010 07:40 AM

Training Camp....

You know, I keep hearing all this about Favre deliberately
waiting to decide well into or after training camp or preseason,
if he'll play or retire. There "might" be something to that but
honestly, most of these guys, the veterans anyway, STAY
in pretty good shape year round ,so I don't think that training
camp is that critical for "most" of the veterans, from a
physical-conditioning stand point.I can see it being important
from a "timing" stand point.Getting the feel of a "rookie"
or added member to the team.I mean, training camp won't
hurt any of them but I can see where after years and years
of it, some of these guys just don't feel the need for it.Not
saying they are right or wrong for feeling this way, because
training camp is part of their job,but I can understand them
feeling this way.It just seems like ole Brett is getting singled
out here and although it might be warranted,I'm sure he's
not the only player pulling this.I guess with fame comes
criticism.
