LAEFL ESPN2 Pilot...
I must say that my initial reaction for the pilot when I was recruited by Celo and the gang here in L.A. was that it was not going to be very good. Well I must be the first to give these guys here there props.
This is HUGE guys and I'm not trying to sell this thing for them. I have no ties to this league and have no reason to lie. This is unlike anything that I have ever been a part of. There are several directors and producers here on the set. We have Mike Dunitz here directing the production. He was one of the directors on Jerry McGuire, we also have a producer here by the name of Jon Mikita who works on CSI New York. This is a huge production. I feel like a kid in a candy store. So much fun and so much love in the room. There are make up artist fixing us all up for the set, there is a coaches corner where coaches are being interviewed...man this stuff is crazy!!! We get to be a part of history and all this crazy behind the scenes stuff is "OFF THE HOOK". Beautiful EFL Models, Great catered food, and EFL action everywhere. They are treating us like KINGS. I feel like Denzel Washington. Such a cool experience. Professional photographers are all over the place, maximum lighting everywhere, and blimp, sideline and mobile cameras are all over the set. I wish everyone in this hobby could be here. THIS IS AWESOME!!! I CAN'T SLEEP!!! Oh yeah and by the way other stuff I can't say is going on!!! You're missing out!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! How does the song go? Oh yeah....."I LOVE L.A." |
EXCELLENT REPORT ON THE SITUATION
MIKE,
Thanx for the recap out in la la land. I know you can't say much but it sounds like you have a full production on hand. Where do you see this outing taking miniature football. I feel the hobby is about to get crazy beyond anyone on this chatboard dream. With all the mfca has accomplished. The filming out in la. The filming in august. The cbsmf taking off. I THINK COACHES BETTER GET THERE BEST STUFF READY FOR EVERYTHING. GOOD REPORTING FROM THE WESTSIDE MANTARAYDRE |
SHAZAAAAM, this sounds exciting! Who all is competing? I know Rip is there. Who else? I knew this was going to be a top quality production, but makeup?? They must of kept G. Diamond in the chair for hours...!! :D
|
Mike I told you that you would enjoy my boys............
........out there man it is nothing like L.A. DFW is cool but L.A. will alwys be home. I wish I was there bro believe me!!
|
All I can say is...
The producer said that this is a "SLAM DUNK"!!! Unfortunately, for editing purposes everyone is prohibited from posting pictures at this time. This is insane. Having to be on the set at 6:00AM is crazy!
Participating Coaches.... George Diamond Mike Robertson Marcelo Troilo Mike Turner Bill Porsche Dave Campbell Eric Robinson Shabby J. Perry Burk Cleon Tate James Partipilo Anthony Price Marty Barbara Burke Rick Garrison Matt Riley Tim Riley Errin Mikels Darren Hunter Jeronimo Spinks All games are getting played on time, in order and ahead of schedule. When this lands it will be better than the what you see on TV now with the "Madden Challenge", "The World Series of Poker" and the "And 1 Series"! We have been issued a gag order on the results so please don't text the guys asking what's going on. We can't say anymore until the show aires or it doesn't sale. Worst case scenario is that it doesn't aire and we get a DVD fully edited and ready for tv for the EFL community to enjoy. We'll keep you posted as much as we can. I've been designated the spokeman because the producers have allowed my laptop on the set. Haha...Lucky me! More details coming soon... |
that's great news mike and keep up the good work and tell all out there i said good luck. ppls$ thmbsp$ ppcrn ppcrn ppcrn

I wish I could have been out there.. sounds fantastic. Many of us have talkled about and hoped for some type of TV show for miniature football as part of the natural progression of the hobby, the next big step in our evolution. This is truly big news and I hope it bears fruit in the immediate future. Thanks for sharing this story with us!!

This is a TOUGH league to play in and rookie members have to take their lumps, but are treated with respect, because everyone knows that on any given day.... |
Congratulations guys
Great work!
I just wonder - how does this impact what the Brawl has in the works? |
Is it going to be a series, or a one time show? Or has that not yet been determined?
|
I imagine...
if it is picked up it will be a series. I also know that there is a strong possibilty that we might have to sacrifice some of our standard rules so that the game plays better for television and is easier to understand for the viewing audience.

I Can't Stand the Suspense!
I want to know the outcome of this weekend and the next meeting before it airs. I wanna know! Iwanna know! I wanna know!
That is ONE of the things that puts me on the fence when it comes to placing what we do on TV. I am not at a comprimizing stage right now, when it comes to how we play the game (East to West). I guess I am still bitter about how the hobby and the game has been potrayed over the years that it's not easy for me to accept change due to outside sources. And for that reason, I have not really been a big proponent of advertising to the masses. If we can continue to control the show, I'm cool. Sorry for venting... Anyway, you guys keep up the good work out there and continue to fill us in on whatever you can as soon as you can. Peace! -Adrian- |
This is just great to hear and it is just what this hobby could use at this time. Keep up the good work guys thmbsp$ thmbsp$ thmbsp$

AB...
I agree with you but do know that we do have full control. The are relying on us to do what we've always done. However, the most important thing to remember is that in real football WR's get off the line of scrimmage at a pretty good ratio even while in bump & run coverage. However, in EF if you're stronger than your opponent, receivers go games without ever getting off the line of scrimmage. This is just one of the possibilities that they are looking at to make the games more interesting and better for t.v. Heck, even the Detroit Lions at 0-16 put points on the board. We have to be able to make that happen. We can't expect the hobby to grow if people watching see the possibility of the worst coaches on screen being unable to score because that could be them if they decided to purchase a set and join a league. This may effect recruiting the viewers.
There will still be leagues around the country playing their own style of play. The t.v. show will be for recruiting purposes only. Think of it this way...Several Years ago "The World Series of Poker" only had about 2000 people competing professionally. Since it was picked up by ESPN over 20,000 compete professionally. When the "Madden Challenge" hit the screen kids all over the world were already playing but once it aired on ESPN and there was a $50,000 prize for the winner, playstations and madden video games were produced at clip Madden never imagined himself. Now the rules are different for the "Madden Challenge" on aire (camera views, game length, teams you can use, etc) but at your house with your boys you can play however you want. This is the same case for EF. However, not understanding this concept, I completely agree with you. |
Gotcha!

Had a blast on set
I just wanted to give a shout to Celo & everyone involved in the DFL Project. I had a blast throught the duration of the project. Everyone was great...both, in front of, and behind the cameras. It is good to see ones EF/MF Dream come alive. It was a pleasure to finally meet George Diamond...what a great guy. Mike Robertson is also a class act, and one of the best coaches in the nation. Two guys who display integrity, sportsmanship...true leaders in this hobby. Also, I would like to give props to Reginald Rutledge, & the founding members of the LAEFL (Al Clegg, Vince Peatros, Chet Haptonstall, Mike Turner, David Campbell, Marq Vaughn & Derrick Lewis). We have come a long way, and without the contributions, and sacrifices of so many the league could not have survived.
