...ANOTHER reference to a beloved game..HANGMAN!!! What if, with all of the customizing we have out there, if the players' arms/hands catch the string???

I just use the football "jibbitz". Ya know the lil thingies kids put in their Croc shoes!?! It slides right out of the way when your player(s) hit it and it's not magnetic, nor does it vibe around the board.

I USE THIS METHOD AT HOME ALSO

E-GAMER AND ALL

I USE THIS SAME MEHTOD AT HOME. for me personally, it is the best passing method i ever encountered. Instead of using wood. I found these file folders and took the rails off the folder. On the rail there is a part that slides all the way across the top of the rail. The rail is long enough to reach from one side line to the other sides hash mark. So all i have to do is slide the rail up and down the field where the intended receiver is , then slide the piece on top of the rail anywhere across the field where i want he receiver to catch the football.

I went to i think it was michaels or another store and found something called invisible thread or wire. I found in michaels these beads that are shaped perfectly like little footballs. I attach the bead to the wire so it hangs chest high to the receiver like e-game mentioned. ( I GOT THIS IDEA FROM THE MPFL FLOATING FOOTBALL AND WENT EVEN FURTHER WITH IT.) **THIS IS NOT TO CHANGE WHAT THE MPFL HAS IN PLACE. DEPENDING on how the room is lit. you can see the wire and sometimes you cant see a thing. All you see is a football hanging in the air as if it were thrown and the receiver is running to catch it. It is pretty cool to see.

I just lucked out and found these folders and tore out afl of the rails . I threw out the folders and packing so i have no idea what the name of the folders are. .I need someone to perfect this even more so the community can use this method . I WILL BRING SOME RAILS TO THE BRAWL SINCE ALL OF THE GREAT MINDS ARE GOING TO BE THERE AND WE CAN FIGURE OUT HOW TO ENHANCE THIS EVEN MORE. If i could get the raiils to slide downfield electronically when the board is turned on it would be the greatest invention to date. !

you have to anyway....

if you are defending properly against any type of stick passing method, a defensive player should be angled to tackle after the catch......I usually have one going for the int. and the other to make the tackle.

The way this is presented, from what I am reading, is that there is somehow more of a chance of a catch and the defender better be ready for a tackle.

If one wants to eliminate the stoppage, then use a ball that is not magnetic, that way the whomever "catches" the ball will run through it as it will slide out of the way.

This diagram shown here can cause some potential problems, ..... like strategically placing the "post" that will impede the defender. Another potential "snag" I see is just that, .................an arm getting snagged on the string/thread.

When we first had a magnetic football for BuzzBall's Pass Simulation sets, we had a long post up from the ball, but what we found was figures were hitting the post before getting to the ball, hence, we shortened the post.

Weirdwolf , you nailed it. The picture is exactly the way it looks!!

Thanks for the replies

Thanks for the replies coaches! I would say the receivers run through the ball 99% of the time. We have hardly ever had recivers get tangled. I think a couple of times a defender with outstretched hands/arms may have tangled in the thread. The leg has never been an issue. The leg is about 20 yards away from the ball. A defender would have to take a very steep angle to the receiver for any obstruction. You can make this contraption at any length. What we do is, the defender controls the switch, as the pass is completed, and the offensive coach simply picks up the pendulum frame after the receiver moves through the ball.

Well, I got to say, I like this new deal. I went to the basement and threw this together in about 10 minutes, tested it on the field with my 5 year old. We give it a 5 out of 5 start rating! The fact that you don't need to stop board is a huge plus in my opinion and want to give big props to efgamer! I had no men hang up on it with the ones I tested and there may be those that do, but with a little more study we might find the right item to hang that wouldn't hang anyone. I love the ball hanging in the air. I am going to push for something like this for future rules and play.

I am sure someone can take it from here, but with the right counterbalance you could have this extend as far away from the play as you wanted. Even mount it to the outside side rail.

1 magnet
1 wire
1 waxed nylon string
1 old ef football ( I used the one out of the Excalibur set)

Bam...off you go!
